italy-niger bilateral relations and INTERNATIONAL COOPERATION: SANT’ANNA SCHOOL CONDUCTS TRAINING FOR 20 judges and MAGISTRATES IN NIAMEY

Bilateral relations between Italy and Niger have grown rapidly in recent years and advanced education has been a major driver of development. Sant’Anna School academics returns to Niamey for the second year in a row to offer practice-based training program for 20 Nigerien magistrates and judges in Niamey. On 24 February 2019, the “Training the Trainers” initiative will focus on the international counter terrorism strategy to promote good governance and justice as a core activity for countering and preventing terrorism and illicit trafficking.

The Training the Trainers course and Andrea de Guttry, Professor of International Law and the Director of the Dirpolis (Law, Politics and Develoment) Institute, will address these issues with the support of the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation. Distinguished Italian and Nigerien magistrates together with Italian and Nigerien scholars will highlight counterterrorism efforts and discuss interstate threats through interactive lecturing.

Italy and Niger are strengthening their relations and cooperation. The Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation and the Judicial Education for Magistrates Association will provide magistrates and judges with the expertise on the cooperation mechanisms for combatting the threats posed by transnational terrorist groups.
